Jodi-Valinsky

Brooklyn-native Allen Valinsky moved to North Miami in 1973 to open his pizza store, Steve’s Pizza. Since its opening in 1974 on Biscayne Boulevard, the pizza joint is still thriving at the heart of North Miami.

“My father [Allen Valinsky] moved us here when we were kids so he can open the pizza store,” said Jodi Valinsky. “I was only seven and my brother Jay was four.”

Jodi also remembers when her father chose the location for his business.“He found that this location was perfect; a vacant-free standing building in the perfect location,” said Jodi. “We didn’t live far.”

Steve’s Pizza is known for its consistency in food quality and their mystery sweet sauce. Many loyal customers brag about how “they can’t get New York style pizza anywhere else,” according to Jodi.

Now in 2016, the popular pizza shop is a Valinsky family business ran by Jodi, Steven and Jay, Jodi’s sister Falyn, Jodi’s father Allen, his wife Yasmin—and it’s right here in North Miami.
